Telephone Skills Workshop by nationally recognized customer service expert, Eileen Shenker, hosted in partnership with the Star Ledger. 

 

AM Training Session 2 (Concurrent)

TITLE:   Meadowlands Liberty 101

TIME:   10:00AM-12:00PM

-         Our highlight educational seminar educates and informs a wide array of hotel personnel, and this year will focus on a topic that is central to everyone who works in the region and works in travel and tourism:  Transportation and Mobility.  How Visitors Get Around! 

-         Presentations from Port Authority, NJ Transit and Meadowlink will augment our regular program, which includes history, background and geography of the region as well as info in “local treasures.”

TITLE:  Sports Complex Status Report

TIME:  11:30 – 12:30 Lunch/Networking

Opening Welcome from NJ Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells followed by

Commissioner Pam Miller of the NJ Sports and Exposition Authority has been invited to discuss the changing face of the Meadowlands Sports Complex and outline their short-term initiatives and long-term goals.

Keynote - Part II

TITLE:   Successful Local Travel & Tourism Development

12:50 pm Keynote II

Doug Price, Senior VP, professional development for the Destination Marketing Association International will draw upon his 18 years experience with Marriott International to give a motivational speech and send attendees into the policy portion of the program with thoughts on tourism, marketing and customer service.

 

Policy Session 1

TITLE:   Visions for the Future

TIME:  1:20 – 2:00

Meadowlands Xanadu: From Cranes, Crawlers and Hardhats to Trains, Planes and Automobiles.  A presentation showcasing the progression of Meadowlands Xanadu from construction through Grand Opening visitors and tourism.  Daniel Haggarty, EVP Development and Gary Hanson, newly appointed General Manager.

Stakeholder Roundtable Session with Karen Gonzales, CMP 

                                      Vice Pres. of Membership with DMAI

 

TIME:  2:00 – 2:50PM

MLCVB stakeholders will get the opportunity to discuss CVB operations with Karen Gonzales, a certified meeting professional and a seasoned executive having spent multiple years at a large CVB prior to joining the team at DMAI. 

 

Afternoon Training Session 2  ( Concurrent )

Policy Session 2

TITLE:    Funding and Operations of Local Destination Marketing Organizations

TIME:      3:15 – 4:30PM

  • New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells, will headline a distinguished panel discussing DMO’s providing local promotional and tourism services and the economic impact that can be derived.
  • Doug Price, Senior VP of professional development for the Destination Marketing Association International will moderate and provide insights into what works nationally and how New Jersey can apply it locally. 
  • Participants expected to include:   NJ Meadowlands Commission Exec. Director Robert Ceberio,  NJSEA Commissioner Pam Miller, State Senator Paul Sarlo, Assemblymen Prieto, Scalera, & Shaer; Mayor Dennis Elwell, State Director of the Office of Travel & Tourism, Nancy Byrne, Hudson County Cultural & Tourism Director Bill Larosa, and  MLCVB Chief Executive Jim Kirkos.
