Bone started his Verizon career in 1979 as an outside plant engineer for New Jersey Bell, and was named President & CEO of Bell Atlantic– West Virginia in July, 1995. He returned to New Jersey in June, 2000 as President of Verizon New Jersey. Bone is on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the Newark Alliance, the Liberty Science Center,
the NJ Center for Teaching and Learning and the NJ Network Foundation. Bone serves on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the New Jersey Utilities Association. In addition, Bone is Chairman of the NJ State Employment and Training Commission, Chairman of the NJ State Chamber of Commerce and Interim Chairman of Choose NJ.
